Russian Red is the first Brazil-Russia co-produced feature film. Inspired by the diary of actress Martha Nowill (published in the prestigious literary magazine Piauí), it recounts the soul searching trip of two young Brazilian actresses in Moscow. Shot entirely on location with a small crew, the film makes use of documentary filmmaking technique to portray a fictional story that depicts the inner journey of a group of foreigners in a culture extremely different from theirs. Russian Red is a touching story of a deep friendship as well as a fun portrayal of life in theatre and the struggle of two artists trying to overcome their difficulties.
