A legendary drag queen who has been playing Madonna for over 30 years. A poor guy who will have the opportunity to see Madonna for free. A singer who is inspired by Madonna. A trans woman who is part of the Ballroom scene. A group that works at a sex party that will have a big edition in Rio de Janeiro. These are some of the protagonists of "Copacabana, May 4th", which observes, through these lives, the feeling of the city on the eve of this big show, by the biggest POP singer in the world.
The film observes how the themes discussed in the pop star's career affect these characters. The fight for the rights of minorities, such as male chauvinism, repression of female sexuality, homophobia, LGBTphobia, HIVphobia and even racism, are recurring subjects in this script. This audience will meet in Copacabana, on May 4th, to raise all these flags, in a kind of celebration, on Madonna's "The Celebration Tour".
