Q. What is FiGa?

A. Figa is an Afro-Brazilian icon, a hand with the thumb between the index and middle fingers, symbolizing good luck and fertility. It is also a combination of the company’s co-founders last names, Sandro Fiorin and Alex Garcia.



Q. Why the home of the new Latin American cinema?

A. Great films from Latin America, a region long in storied history and tradition, have not gained the popularity in North America that works from other parts of the world have received. Today, young Latino filmmakers are dictating what is new and what is hot, and we are their outlet.



Q. What is our mission?

A. To represent and acquire the best of Latin American cinema and let you enjoy the ride. FiGa Films is determined in showing every work we select to the broadest possible audience, whether through theatrical art house release, straight to DVD, cable and public television stations, or broadband Internet.



Q. Does FiGa read scripts?

A. No. We are a distribution company, not a production company. We only consider completed films.



Q. Can I submit a film for your consideration?

A. No. We distribute only three to four films a year, most of which are acquired at film festivals.
